playa grande

Playa Grande is a tiny surfer-beachtown on the pacific coast, located inside the national park “Marino las Baulas”, in the northern province of Costa Rica called Guanacaste. Guanacaste is well known for its beautiful countryside and for the constant hot climate. The national park “Marino las Baulas” is a great place to watch nesting the biggest turtle from the world – the leatherback sea turtle. Playa Grande is offering great hospitality with a variety of nice and cozy hotels and some great places to eat.

There are great waves all year long with offshore conditions, most time of the year. Beside the main-peak there are many different spots, where you can choose your perfect wave according to your surf-level. The beach is beautiful and quiet with white sand along the 8 km of extension.

The closest village is Matapalo, where you can get to know some culture and traditions of Costa Rica.

Southern of Playa Grande by crossing the rivermouth you get to Tamarindo – one of the most famous beachtowns in Costa Rica. There you can find multiple restaurants, bars, hotels and nice shopping places. On the north of Playa Grande you find Playa Ventanas, which is a nice quiet beach to take a swim and chill out.
